Altervitam works in rural Madagascar to strengthen education continuity for marginalised children and to support livelihood development for family providers.
Our objective is practical and long term: children remain in school and progress; households develop income activities that increase stability over time.

We understand education as more than school attendance. It shapes an individual’s capacity to act within their social and economic environment.
Sustainable development, in this sense, links present stability to future opportunity. When households are more secure, children can continue learning. When learning is sustained, the next generation expands its economic and civic possibilities.
As a registered Malagasy NGO since 2024, Altervitam seeks not only to support individuals, but also to contribute to evidence-informed discussions on education and development in contexts of economic fragility.
